Electricity plays a significant role in both the daily life of each customer and the overall development of national economy. The total length of electricity distribution network lines has reached 93 175 kilometres and electricity is supplied to more than 1 million customer objects throughout Latvia. Sadales tīkls AS continues developing the power supply network – constituting the technical infrastructure for an essential service – implementing considerable electricity supply quality improvement projects.

To ensure reconstruction and modernisation of the power supply networks, use of innovative technical solutions, improving provision of safe and high-quality distribution service to customers, Sadales tīkls AS is planning on making capital investments totalling 59 million euro in 2020 planned by

  • renew electricity network;
  • replacement of medium-voltage overhead power lines with cable lines;
  • automation of medium-voltage power supply network;
  • reconstruction of 0,23kV power supply network in the historic center of Riga;
  • voltage quality improvement.

This year as well, Sadales tīkls AS is planning on carrying out notable power supply quality improvement projects and continuing maintenance works of power line rights-of-way and infrastructure, which significantly increases the safety and quality of power supply, reducing the risk of power failures caused by adverse weather conditions.

In 2020, Sadales tīkls AS is planning on renewing a total of 1 600 km of medium-voltage and low-voltage power lines, as well as reconstructing or constructing 420 transformer substations throughout Latvia.
