Sadales tīkls AS commenced legally independent operation on 1 July 2007, when Latvia complied with the provisions of the European Union (EU) directives, which envisaged gradual liberalisation of the electricity market. During the restructuring of Latvenergo AS, electricity transmission and distribution system operators were legally separated. Sadales tīkls AS is the maintainer and developer of the electricity network in Latvia. It ensures power supply to over one million electricity users objects, with its services covering 99% of the country’s territory.
The company performs ensuring the operation, upgrading and planned development of distribution networks, monitoring of electricity use, activities aimed at reducing losses, electricity metering, and creation of new connections where necessary. We develop a secure, smart and efficient electricity network in the long term to provide customers with high-quality power supply and facilitate access to services. We cooperate with national associations and foundations, professional and international organisations and associations, representing the Company’s interests and national interests in the development of sector policy documents, regulations and standards, as well as provide information on current developments in energy sector and related industries. Sadales tīkls AS is part of Latvenergo AS Group. All shares of Sadales tīkls AS are owned by Latvenergo AS.
The share capital of the Company is EUR 627,656,063. The Company’s share capital consists of 627,656,063 shares. The par value of one share is EUR 1 (one euro). All shares carry an equal right to dividends, liquidation quota and voting at the Shareholders’ Meeting. All shares are registered shares and are dematerialised.
The total length of the distribution networks was 93 175 kilometres in 2019 and this is twice as long as the circumference of the Earth along the Equator. Sadales tīkls uses low-voltage (0.4 kV) and medium-voltage (6 – 20 kV) facilities for the provision of distribution services. The medium-voltage (6 – 20 kV) network accounts for approximately one third ( 35 540 kilometres) of the distribution system and the low-voltage (0.4 kV) network accounts for around two thirds (57 634 km). 27 403 transformer substations ensure the supply of electricity to the users electrical installations connected to the electricity network.
