Information for new electricity traders

If you are a new or potential electricity trader, you need to complete a number of steps before you can start trading electricity:

  • contact the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) to register in the Traders’ Register.
  • sign an agreement with Augstprieguma tīkls AS and receive an Energy Identification Code (EIC). Information about the EIC is available here. In addition, please read the information about the electricity system use and balance service traders here.
  • sign the System Use Contract with Sadales tīkls (avaliable in Latvian);
  • if you are a member of the electricity market that is involved in the European Union (EU) wholesale energy transactions, register in the Centralised European Register of Energy Market Participants (CEREMP) established by the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER); see here.

How is the conclusion of the System Use Agreement organised?

Apply for concluding the System Use Agreement by sending an e-mail to tirgotajiem@sadalestikls.lv.

Include the following information in your e-mail:

  • company name, registration number, registered address, postal address, contact person (name, surname, contact phone number and e-mail), signatory of the agreement on behalf of the customer;
  • document certifying the right to sign (if the signatory of the agreement is not registered in the Register of Enterprises).

Upon receipt of the information, Sadales tīkls will agree with you on the conclusion of the System Use Agreement. When the agreement is signed, you will receive access to the information systems that will give you the right to apply for or refuse the electricity trade and to provide customer service.
