Changing the electricity trader

Each customer has the right to change the trader and the frequency of changing the trader is unlimited. However, it is important to comply with the provisions of the electricity trade agreement regarding the early termination of the agreement. The range of services offered by traders is extensive and includes services for which a fee is charged in the event of the early termination of the agreement.

If you choose another trader, the agreement with the new electricity trader must be concluded by the 15th day of the month. It means that you have new electricity trader starting from 1st day of the next month.

What is the procedure for changing the trader?

Final guaranteed supply

Starting from 1 April 2021, electricity within final guaranteed supply will be supplied by SIA “TET”.
You will receive the first bill from SIA “TET” in May for the electricity consumed in April.

Please, pay attention!
If you use regular payment for payment of bills or pay your bills automatically, please update the information about the beneficiary in your bank payment order.

The final guaranteed supply is the supply of electricity to a customer who has not selected an electricity trader and has not concluded an agreement. In this case, electricity is supplied by the trader selected by Sadales tīkls under a tendering procedure. Until 31 March 2021 the electricity trader within final guaranteed supply was AS Latvenergo (e-mail:, tel. +371 8400), but furthermore this service will be provided by SIA “TET” (e-mail:, tel. +371 177).

The electricity price within final guaranteed supply is formed based on the average electricity price on the Nord Pool electricity exchange for the Latvian region and trader’s mark-up. The electricity price may be different every month.

The bill prepared by the trader includes the following items:

  • payment for the electricity consumed;
  • payment for Sadales tīkls system services;
  • mandatory procurement components;
  • value added tax.
